One of our regular Cruise ship clients contacted us to arrange their Marine LOLER 6 monthly examinations during a quick turnaround in port in Dover. The ship was scheduled to come into port on Wednesday, have the following day in port and leave again on Friday, giving us just one full day to carry out the inspections.
Whilst maintaining constant communication with the client to ensure we were kept abreast of any changes to the ship’s schedule, we assigned a 4-man team to attend the ship to ensure all required works could be completed within the short time frame.
Our team travelled 150 miles to Dover on Wednesday afternoon, staying in a hotel overnight so we could be ready to board first thing Thursday morning. Once aboard, our engineers split into two teams and set to work.
Each team, with its own plan of action, methodically worked across the ship to examine all fixed height safety systems, man-riding anchor points and window cleaning platforms, including all height safety PPE, karabiners, rescue kits and inertia reels.
We completed the examinations as planned, well within the allocated time, with minimal disruption to crew operations. Our 4-man team returned home that afternoon for a well-earned rest, ready to take on the following day’s challenges.
The client remained fully compliant with the regulations and was ready to set sail once again on their next adventure.
