Turnkey Crane Installation

The Right Crane, Installed Right, Working From Day One

A crane can be a big decision, and the specification matters more than the badge on the hoist. As an independent company, we are free to source components for a crane or swing jib that is genuinely suited to your requirements and budget, rather than steering every enquiry toward one manufacturer’s catalogue. We are in a great position to specify, design, supply, install, and commission on a complete turnkey basis.

From a single swing jib serving one workstation to overhead travelling cranes and gantry cranes spanning a full production hall, we manage the whole journey, including the site survey and specification, the structural work, the installation and commissioning, and the testing and certification.

Our crane installation service covers:

  • Overhead travelling cranes, single and double girder
  • Gantry and semi-gantry cranes
  • Swing jibs, floor and column mounted
  • Runway beams and supporting steelwork
  • New and reconditioned cranes to suit the budget
  • Commissioning, proof load testing and certification

Planning A New Crane or Swing Jib?

Talk to our crane engineers about the duty, the span and the budget, and we will specify a lifting solution that earns its keep.

Crane Manufacture & Installation Services

Specification & Design

Every installation starts with the duty, which means establishing what the crane must lift, how often, over what span and in what environment. From there, we survey the building, assess the structure and the classification the duty demands, and specify a crane that matches the work rather than the nearest standard model.

Because we are independent, the recommendation is driven by suitability and budget, and a quality reconditioned crane is on the table when it makes more sense than new.

Where the requirement is unusual, our group’s design and manufacturing capability takes over, producing bespoke solutions from lifting beams to complete crane systems, with designs that can be reviewed as a 3D model before a single section is fabricated.

Crane Manufacturer

Overhead & Gantry Cranes

Overhead travelling cranes handle the heavy, repetitive work of manufacturing, fabrication, and maintenance, and the configuration determines how well the crane serves the people beneath it over the next twenty years. Single or double girder, top running or underslung, the hoist speeds, the control system, we work through each of those against your duty cycle rather than against whatever model happens to be nearest, and we install the runway beams and supporting steelwork where the building needs them.

Gantry and semi-gantry cranes bring the same capability where the building structure cannot carry a runway, running on floor mounted rails with their own legs. Either way, the installation is planned around your operations, with lifts, isolations and downtime agreed before anyone arrives on site, because a crane going in should not stop the work it was bought to support.

Swing Jib Installation

A well placed swing jib transforms a workstation, putting controlled lifting exactly where the work happens without occupying the whole bay. We install floor-mounted and column-mounted jibs, with manual or powered slew, sized to the arc and capacity the task requires, with the foundation or column connection engineered and proven rather than assumed.

Jib installations are frequently the quickest win in a lifting review, with only a day or two of installation, removing years of manual handling risk from a single operation. Where the fixing goes into existing structure, the anchors are proven by pull testing before the jib takes its first load.

Crane Supplier

Commissioning, Testing & Handover

No crane we install goes to work unproven.

Our commissioning includes full functional testing and proof load testing against the rated capacity, with the crane certified and its documentation handed over complete, with test certificates, technical files and the inspection schedule the crane will live on. Operators are shown the machine, and the first LOLER thorough examination date is set before we leave.

From there, the same team that installed the crane can keep it working through our crane maintenance and servicing, which means the engineers who arrive for a service already know the machine from bare steel upward.

    Design & Manufacture

The crane is sourced or manufactured to specification, with supporting steelwork designed where the building needs it.

  3. 03

    Install & Commission

Installation is planned around your operations, followed by full functional and proof load testing against the rated capacity.

  4. 04

    Certify & Hand Over

The crane is certified, documentation handed over complete, and the ongoing inspection schedule set from day one.

Why Choose SWL

Independent Advice, Turnkey Delivery

Our Crane Installation FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of crane do you install?

Overhead travelling cranes in single and double girder configurations, gantry and semi-gantry cranes, floor and column mounted swing jibs, and the runway beams and steelwork that support them.

Do you supply reconditioned cranes?

Yes. As an independent company, we supply both new and reconditioned cranes, and we will recommend reconditioned cranes where they genuinely suit the duty and save you money.

Can you manufacture a bespoke lifting solution?

Yes. Our group’s design and manufacturing capabilities produce bespoke lifting beams, structures, and complete crane systems, with designs viewable as 3D models before fabrication begins.

Is the crane tested before handover?

Always. Commissioning includes full functional testing and proof load testing against the rated capacity, with certification and complete documentation handed over before the crane goes to work.

Do you handle the building work a crane needs?

We design and install runway beams and supporting steelwork where the building requires it, and where fixings go into the existing structure, the anchors are pull tested before the crane loads them.

Will you maintain the crane after installation?

Yes. Our crane maintenance and servicing contracts keep the machine on its inspection schedule with the same team that installed it, and crane breakdown and repair cover is available alongside.

Which areas do you cover?

We install cranes and swing jibs across the United Kingdom, with site surveys carried out without obligation.
